What motivated you to become a Pathologist?

I have always been interested in the understanding of the mechanisms behind the molecular and cellular changes resulting in a specific disease. My initial interest was in clinical biochemistry and its application in the diagnosis of diseases. Because of my interactions with various clinicians I became interested in vascular pathology. The remarkable breakthrough in molecular biology and cellular sciences attracted  me towards this field.

What do you love most about Loyola Pathology?

The Loyola Pathology department has a remarkable track record in providing state of the art services in all areas including laboratory medicine.  The Pathology Department has a central role in the overall management of patient care. As our Chairman quoted "the healing begins at the diagnosis of a disease".  The department provides a unique opportunity for education, research and service and has maintained a national stature since the opening of the medical center in the late 1960s.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

Classical music appreciation.
